Ditching paper towels in the double wide
04/22/2009, 12:35 pm by Teton Area 10x10
For those of you who have visited the Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce office, affectionately dubbed “The double-wide” (because it is, indeed, just that), you know that we are not lucky enough to work in the newest or most efficient building in town. No worries, though, we’re keeping it green and are always looking for ways to save energy, paper and work in a more sustainable way.
This past week we started using reusable hand cloths in lieu of paper towels. (Don’t panic, paper towels are still available in our cozy building, we will probably just judge you for using one!) Next week we’re taking over the world… just kidding.
In all seriousness, switching to cloth towels got me to thinking about everything else we could, can and will be doing. I got on the Teton Area 10 x 10 website and entered the Chamber’s past few month’s worth of Lower Valley Energy bills – if you’re a business get on there and do it, it’s easy and quick, I then decided to get on the horn with Qwest to discuss e-faxing (they will be offering it soon), and all this excitement was topped off by a walk home. (Friends of Pathways is starting a commuter challenge for all area businesses – sign up, encourage your employees to carpool, walk, take the bus or bike to work – contact Friends of Pathways for more info!)
Happy Earth Week! Check out all the events on pursue balance’s site and get involved!
Oh, and if you haven’t seen the double-wide, come take a look (at the outside at least) this Saturday during Eco-Fair in the Whole Grocer parking lot, 9-4pm!
